EFFECTS OF AROMATHERAPY ON ANXIETY SYMPTOMS IN WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

ABSTRACT Objective: to assess the effect of aromatherapy on anxiety symptoms in women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Method: a systematic review, carried out from PEOT strategy: what are effects reducing cancer? The research was conducted six databases and eight other data sources. Randomized clinical trials without date language restrictions were included. Results: sample consisted seven studies. Aromatherapy applied by inhalation (57.1%) massage (42.8%), adopted alone or conjunction with interventions, demonstrating reduction 71.4% predominance lavender, bergamot, frankincense sandalwood essential oils is highlighted their anxiolytic, relaxing, sedative, invigorating, antidepressant muscle tension effects. Conclusion: showed positive significant results
